Getting to Bhutan

The Paro International Airport in the only international airport in Bhutan and Druk Air (Royal Bhutan airline) operates scheduled flights to Dhaka in Bangladesh, Indian cities of New Delhi, Bagdora, Kolkata, Gaya and Guwahati, Kathmandu in Nepal, Bangkok in Thailand and Singapore. Whereas Bhutan Airlines operates scheduled flights to Kolkatta in India, Bangkok in Thailand and Katmandu in Nepal

By Road

The town of Phuntsholing (south west), Gelephu (south central) and Samdrup Jongkhar (eastern) are the only overland border entries open to international tourists. The Phuntsholing town is 3-4 hours drive from Bagdogra (the nearest Indian airport) which can be reached by plane from Calcutta and Delhi in India. From Darjeeling or Gangtok (Sikkim), it can take 7 hours to Phuntsholing. It takes approximately 5-6 hours from Phuntsholing to Thimphu.
